birthday boy!

JeJe (as Alex likes to call him) turned ONE last Sunday. Nicole and Andrew had his birthday party this morning, and he tore into his birthday cupcake. I've never seen a kid go after a cupcake as fast as Jeremy did. Anyhow, Alex had fun celebrating Jeremy's birthday. Birthday party #2 tomorrow and another one on Wednesday, and I think we're done with birthdays for the year (or at least this month).

full of surprises!

I took Alex to get his hair cut this morning because he has a busy week ahead of him - 3 birthday parties, pictures at school, pottery with mommy and Christmas pictures. I fully expected him to scream his head off the entire time, like he has the past three times. Not this time. He walked in, saw the car (which he also said "car") and I told him that he could sit in it as soon as Miss. Nicole told him he could. Miss Nicole rocks! She has cut his hair everytime we've been there. She put in Cars for him, and he let her cut her hair. Granted, he had to sit in all three cars for her to do this, but it got done without any screaming.

new tote!

Here's a picture of the diaper tote that I won from Baby Star last week. It's cute. I'm saving it for the next baby (whenever we have a next baby), which I'm hoping is a girl. This tote is great! Perfect for a girl. It is formaldahyde and AZO free (making it safe for baby and the environment!). The print is BPA and phalate free laminate, making the entire bag very easy to clean! So there is my plug for Baby Star. They also make some great blankets and sheets that Alex uses a ton, even now.

saving daylight

Around 9:30 am this morning, I found Alex in his chair watching "Yo Gabba Gabba" like this. I guess this is what happens when you wake up at 4:45am on the day that you move your clocks back an hour. Needless to say, nap time was hell today. Thank goodness I had dancing this afternoon or else, I wouldn't have been able to survive the rest of the day. I'm hoping Alex is back on schedule tomorrow morning. I like him waking up at 7am!

happy halloween

Kim and I took Ava and Alex trick or treating at the mall tonight. It was a crazy over there, but a lot of fun! Alex loved having a buddy in the back seat with him. When I told Chris about that, he said that we might as well start working on that. LOL!

harvest celebration

This afternoon, Chris and I attended the Harvest celebration at Alex's school. Otherwise known as trick or treating. It was ADORABLE! When we got there, Miss Angie told us his treat bag was in Mrs. Denise's room. And it was so cute. His treat bag had his name on it, along with a pumpkin that was covered in his finger prints. Then we walked around the building and Alex collected candy in his treat bag from all the teachers, security officers, etc from his school. It was fun. We had some snacks and went home. The picture of the picture above is a picture his teacher took of him a couple of weeks ago. She included it in his treat bag. Too lazy to scan so taking a picture of it was the next best thing.

brusha brusha brusha

Who knew it would only take 25 cent toothbrushes for Alex to want to brush his teeth? Towards the end of summer, Alex and I made our usual trip to CVS and while we were browsing the clearance section, he brought me this pack of kid toothbrushes. At 75% off, they were a steal @ $0.25 for 3 toothbrushes. And since Alex picked them out himself, I figured it would make him more excited about brushing his teeth. After the whole dentist debacle, I was ready to try anything to brush his teeth. From August until now (but hopefully, forever), Alex has brushed his teeth every morning and night for me. Score!!
Oh wait... yummy Thomas the Train toothpaste is a big motivator too!

pumpkin bread

I realized that I never posted a picture of the pumpkin bread that I made with our fresh pumpkin. It was delicious! Again, I hadn't made pumpkin bread since I was a Girl Scout so I was surprised when it turned out really well. I only remembered to take a picture of it when we had this tiny piece left!
