happy halloween

Kim and I took Ava and Alex trick or treating at the mall tonight. It was a crazy over there, but a lot of fun! Alex loved having a buddy in the back seat with him. When I told Chris about that, he said that we might as well start working on that. LOL!

harvest celebration

This afternoon, Chris and I attended the Harvest celebration at Alex's school. Otherwise known as trick or treating. It was ADORABLE! When we got there, Miss Angie told us his treat bag was in Mrs. Denise's room. And it was so cute. His treat bag had his name on it, along with a pumpkin that was covered in his finger prints. Then we walked around the building and Alex collected candy in his treat bag from all the teachers, security officers, etc from his school. It was fun. We had some snacks and went home. The picture of the picture above is a picture his teacher took of him a couple of weeks ago. She included it in his treat bag. Too lazy to scan so taking a picture of it was the next best thing.

brusha brusha brusha

Who knew it would only take 25 cent toothbrushes for Alex to want to brush his teeth? Towards the end of summer, Alex and I made our usual trip to CVS and while we were browsing the clearance section, he brought me this pack of kid toothbrushes. At 75% off, they were a steal @ $0.25 for 3 toothbrushes. And since Alex picked them out himself, I figured it would make him more excited about brushing his teeth. After the whole dentist debacle, I was ready to try anything to brush his teeth. From August until now (but hopefully, forever), Alex has brushed his teeth every morning and night for me. Score!!
Oh wait... yummy Thomas the Train toothpaste is a big motivator too!

pumpkin bread

I realized that I never posted a picture of the pumpkin bread that I made with our fresh pumpkin. It was delicious! Again, I hadn't made pumpkin bread since I was a Girl Scout so I was surprised when it turned out really well. I only remembered to take a picture of it when we had this tiny piece left!

fun with friends!

This is Alex's best-est buddy, Jeremy. Alex is in the background. His hair is a little shorter because I decided to trim his bangs when he was napping on Sunday afternoon. I swear, my child needs a his hair cut every two months... it grows like crazy. He definitely has my hair. By the time I take him to the salon in a couple of weeks, his bangs will be near his eyes again. Crazy. Anyhow, Alex and Jeremy are great friends. They were playing at Simon's birthday party together on Sunday, then Nicole and I had a playdate set up for them on Monday and we're going trick-or-treating at the nursing home together tomorrow. Bonus-- they are both growing up to be Gator fans!

birthday boy!

Not the best picture, but Simon turned 3 yesterday! This is just one of many birthday parties that we will be attending in the next month, I think. Jeremy turns 1 on November 1, and I have already been told that we should be recieving an invitation to his party soon. Nicole was there yesterday afternoon, and she is waiting to see what time the Florida game is on the day of his party. Then Wyatt turns 1 on November 11, and Laura already told me that he will be having a party too. Watching kids celebrate birthdays is so much fun.

WINNER!

As some of you might know, I love entering contests. Any kind, really. I've won some really great stuff from these things. My latest win is the Baby Star diaper tote (retailed @ $88). I got the e-mail last night about it so I should have it by the end of the week. I haven't used a diaper bag in almost a year, but I'll take it!

pumpkin carving

The last time that I carved a pumpkin, I was a girl scout. In elementary school. More than 20 years ago. Since I now have a child, I thought I would give pumpkin carving a try. Eventually, I think Alex would actually want to help me carve a pumpkin. I did this one during nap time because I knew as soon as he saw me digging my hands in there to get the seeds and stuff out, he would want to try too.Anyhow, considering this is my first pumpkin, I think I did a pretty good job. Although Chris thinks that he is sad looking.

all by myself

Finally! Alex has gotten to the point where he can climb up this stupid bridge at the mall all by himself. I used to have to help him get up there and then help him slide back down. What a workout for me! Now, I just have to boost his tiny bottom up just a little bit and he'll crawl his way to the top and slide down all on his own.

just DANCE!

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass.. it's about learning to dance in the rain." This morning, I took my very first Dance Trance class with a few of my favorite girlfriends. Luckily, they had childcare available so I was able to take Alex along for the ride. Oh my! This was my type of class. We learned choreographed dances to FloRider, Soldier Boy, etc, etc. It was an hour and fifteen minutes of non-stop fun. And one of the best parts was that all my friends were with me.

welcome!

My friend, Linda, gave birth to her son on Friday around 4pm. Gavin was 7 lbs, 10 oz and 19 inches long. I cannot believe how many boys are being born this year! Alex can't wait to meet you!

pumpkins, pumpkins everywhere!

We spent the afternoon at Lyon's family farm with Kirk, Tabitha and Ian. It was a great time. As always, the rest of the pictures are on Facebook.

i run

I run for hope. I run to feel. I run for truth for all that is real. I run for your mother your sister and your wife. I run for you and me, my friend. I run for life.

This is my team shirt for the Ribbon Run this year. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to run this year because Chris' co-worker is getting married and we're going to the wedding. This is the first year since I have lived in Huntsville that I will be missing the Ribbon Run. So sad. But it is still a great cause. My aunt is a breast cancer survivor, so this run has much significance to me.

what to do on a gloomy day?

Stay at home, watch TV and eat popcorn... all with mama! Alex still loves this chair (can you believe he has been using it since he was born?!). His newest food obsession is popcorn. He loves it. I think he likes the fact that he can hold the bowl while he's in his chair and just much away.

howdy fall!

Alex came home with more art projects today. I am not going to be throwing these away (they are laminated and use his finger prints as well as his hand for the tree trunk) and I just had to share with everyone. They are adorable!

that time again...

Alex needs another haircut... desperately. However, I am not going to get it cut until the first or second week of November. Why, you ask? His school pictures are November 12th, and soon after that, I am going to take him somewhere (don't know where yet) to get pictures taken for our Christmas cards. I want him to have a fresh haircut for both. I swear, Chris and I have been trimming his hair every couple of weeks or so since his last trip to the salon in August. I wish they made something to make his hair stop growing.

there's my girlfriend...

Alex and Haley were so adorable this morning - he was wearing his football jersey and she was wearing her cheerleading uniform. Granted, they were wearing different teams, but they were still cute. Green Mountain Tavern always has the best football parties!

oops.

A year and a half ago, Alex would have fit in this box of diapers. Not anymore.

snack time!

Alex and I spent the morning at the park with some of our bestest friends. After about an hour, it was snack time. I think it is hilarious that in this picture, they are all in the process of putting food in their mouth.

prayers needed

Ian is not doing well at all right now... in fact, he's really gone downhill in the last week or so. You can read about it here. It has been very hard for me to read his caringbridge site this past week. It just breaks my heart. His family could really use some prayers right now.

pulling a britney...

We went back to Chris' hometown this weekend because his grandmother passed away early Wednesday morning. Apparently, when you are in a small town, letting an almost 19 month old drive the car while in your lap is a normal thing.
